Freshly baked tortillas have a very short lifespan, after some time they become dry and tough. In order not to waste them, the Maya and peoples throughout Mexico allow the tortillas to dry, then fry them making a delicious, crunchy corn snack. Vista Hermosa makes their totopos the same way as you would find in the markets of Mexico. They cut and carefully fry their fresh, organic corn tortillas in sunflower oil and then dust them with salt and chili powder -- never made from corn meal or corn flour.
Vista Hermosa
New York, NY
Vista Hermosa was formed by spirit and resolve inside the sturdy brick walls of Tacombi, a taqueria committed to sharing authentic Mexican taco culture. The tortilla is the golden foundation of a quality taco and without local sources who met their quality standards for freshness and flavor they decided to make their own, the traditional Mexican way. From scratch. Every day.
Since, Vista Hermosa has continued to craft a full line of corn & flour tortilla products, totopos & bottled salsas that preserve and share the flavors of Mexico.
