A Patio Feast
It was an OMG, the patio is complete and summer isn’t even over yet kind of day. On a whim we invited Charlie’s dad and Kasandra over for dinner to help us celebrate. We picked up a filet of salmon, yellow corn the cob, and fresh peaches. Charlie soaked a cedar plank and lit the grill while I poured wine and prepared some bite-size potato appetizers.

Despite my lack of an apron and pearls, I felt quite like a typical American housewife. I beamed, we beamed, we built something, and now we must show it off whilst serving food and drink.
Kasandra brought her famous potato salad to accompany the meal. When the salmon came off the grill, we opened a bottle of Charlie’s dry strawberry wine, only the second bottle opened thus far, and we conversed.

Then came the peaches, lightly grilled over the remaining coals and served up with honey cinnamon whipped cream (well, it was supposed to be whipped cream, but one second of distraction and I ended up with butter… the guy from Twin Brooks Creamery did warn me…). We topped our peaches and butter with a light drizzle of honey and homemade granola. Distracted by the flavors, I failed to snap a photo.

Ah, accomplishments. The patio, the strawberry wine, trying to make whipped cream for the grilled peaches. Although not perfect, they are always worth a celebration.
